Overview of sports facilities

Our three-field multifunctional hall (30m x 15m per field) was built in the late 70s and is home to all indoor sports of the IfSS. Due to the possible 1/3 separability by folding walls a flexible execution of the sports is guaranteed. Besides teaching, university sports courses are also held in hall 1. The home games of the indoor sports of KIT SC, above all the regional league basketball players of KIT SC Gequos, are also played here. In 2019, the hall floor was completely renovated.
Our new hall (built in 2011) offers state-of-the-art conditions in each of its three hall sections. Whether with the health centre walk-in, the two spacious sports hall sections, each measuring 23 m x 15 m, or the ultra-modern, electrically adjustable climbing wall - there is something for every user. In addition to teaching events, Hall 2 is also used for university sports courses. The KIT SC also uses this hall with its volleyball teams.
The swimming pool has 5 lanes, each 25 metres long. The bottom of the pool is a height-adjustable lifting floor, with a depth of 1.80 metres. The pool also has a three meter diving tower and a one meter high diving board. The water temperature is 27.5 degrees.
On over 200 square meters and divisible into two hall sections, our gymnastics hall with mirror and large glass wall to the forest is one of our sports facility jewels. The gymnastics hall is available for teaching and university sports.
The walk-in, centre for fitness, health and diagnostics offers you possibilities for health-oriented strength, fitness and endurance training on the most modern equipment on over 300m² of training space.
Qualified trainers are always available during opening hours to provide you with advice and support.
Furthermore, the Walk-In offers you an extensive and varied range of courses as well as a small wellness area with Finnish sauna, relaxation room incl. magazine service and the possibility to use the swimming pool.
Our grass pitch with the field size 105m x 65m is a perfect platform for the ball sports football, soccer and frisbee. The artificial turf is used for teaching various ball sports as well as university sports courses. It is also used by the KIT SC and the KSC.
New modern, high-fibre artificial turf surface (built in 2017) with a field size of 95m x 60m Our artificial turf meets the highest standards and is used intensively by many teaching and service units. The university league also holds its match days there. With its new LED floodlight poles, year-round operation is possible without any problems.
University sports courses, teaching and the KIT SC tennis teams use the 6 new tennis courts of the Sports Institute. In addition, a centre court with grandstand for approx. 300 spectators is available for special events. The idyllic surroundings in the middle of the forest also provide extraordinary conditions.
Our two beach volleyball courts have an advanced drainage system as well as a very soft sand structure with a small grain size. The beach volleyball court is used for teaching, university sports courses and university league. A mobile floodlight system is also available for operation.

Strength training in the fresh air? KIT Hochschulsport enables the Karlsruhe students to use the outdoor equipment park of Turnbar, which was completed at the end of October. A pull-up competition at the end of a sports course? Or maybe a circuit training with all course participants? The diverse application possibilities make freelethics and calisthenics enthusiasts shine.

The multifunctional open-air hall, which was newly built in 2018 in the course of the reconstruction measures, is an innovative mixture of sports field and sports hall. It offers students an all-weather sports facility and at the same time the opportunity to practice sports in a natural atmosphere in the fresh air all year round. At the same time, the open-air hall with an artificial turf surface of 800 square meters creates additional capacity for the university sports groups and the teaching of the IfSS. In addition to pure sports use, the open-air hall is also suitable for events, parties and celebrations.

Completed in 2014, the tartan track with a large double long jump and triple jump facility offers an outstanding training area and meets the highest demands. The 6-lane 400m circuit offers a lot to our students, including devices for light barriers, a station for force plates and a very soft running surface. A mobile floodlight system is also available for operation.
