Unfortunately, it was not enough for the delegation of the WG Karlsruhe for a medal at the EUG. However, athletes of the WG Karlsruhe received special awards: Among others, the men received an award for fair play in beach handball and Lise Ruf received an award as Most Valuable Player (MVP) in women's soccer.

On the 15th day of the competition, the last competitions were held, unfortunately without the participation of KIT athletes. The European Universities Games 2022 in Lodz were rounded off with the closing ceremony.

At the end there was a clear defeat for the KIT basketball team. The boys of the WG Karlsruhe lost 54:103 against the University of Bologna (ITA) after a strained personnel situation and thus occupy the tenth place.

The basketball players of WG Karlsruhe take the next step towards ninth place. With 93:62 they beat the University of Lisbon. In the match for 9th place, an old acquaintance from the preliminary round is now waiting with the Uni Bologna (ITA).

In the placement round, the basketball players of WG Karlsruhe won their first game against the home team of Uni Lodz (POL) with 85:61. The women's soccer team, on the other hand, missed out on bronze and was beaten in the third-place match by the technically superior Portuguese women of Uni Coimbra (POR). Lise Ruf was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).

In the hope round our judoka reached the 7th place in the mixed team competition. The soccer players unfortunately lost their semi-final against Uni Bordeaux (FRA) and the basketball players were defeated in the decisive group match against Uni Sevilla (ESP) with 54:67.

With a 3:2 victory in the quarterfinals against WG Munich, the Karlsruhe girls, after a pointless and scoreless preliminary round, surprisingly made it to the last four teams. The beach handball players finished the tournament as fair play winners on 6th place and the basketball players achieved their first victory against the University of Bologna (ITA) with 76:74.

In the placement round, the Karlsruhe beach handball team was able to record its first victory. Against the University of Warsaw, the team won the game in a shootout. Our basketball players, on the other hand, lost their opening match against Uni Gdynia (POL) with 90:76, but put up a tough fight.

After two defeats the beach handball players of WG Karlsruhe could not qualify for the main round. Thus, they play with the University of Warsaw (POL) and the WG Duisburg-Essen the places five to seven. And the soccer ladies unfortunately lose their third match as well.

The situation is less positive for WG Karlsruhe, which was defeated by Uni Bordeaux (FRA) with 0:6. At the beginning the match was still balanced, but the French girls shone especially with their effective use of chances.

Not a good start of the tournament for our soccer girls of WG Karlsruhe, who had to give in to the team of Uni Lausanne (SUI) 0:2.

The German duo of WG Karlsruhe, Simon Angele and Frank Koegel, finished their competition and in the end placed 16th in a strong competition.

After the ladies of the WG Karlsruhe could win all their singles yesterday, Chantal Graversen, Kiara Maurer, Kathrin Hessenthaler and Lisa Klett were eliminated in the second round today. In the doubles, the two duos reached the round of 16, but were eliminated against the universities from Zagreb (CRO) and Istanbul (TUR).

After being eliminated in the team competition, the WG Karlsruhe TT players had a perfect start in the individual competition. All of them won their matches and are therefore in the next round. "We are very happy with the performance today and are ready for tomorrow", Kathrin Hessenthaler was happy about the good start.

In addition to the athletic competitions on Day 2, the Opening Ceremony in the Atlas Arena took center stage. Athletes from all over Europe waved flags and listened to the highlights of the Opening Ceremony.

The two German beach volleyball duos from WG Karlsruhe and the University of Frankfurt each have one win and one loss to their credit after the first day. Frank Koegel and Simon Angele from Karlsruhe lost to Vilnius University (Lithuania) after beating Istanbul University (Turkey).
