Chair of Exercise Physiology and Nutrition

The "Exercise Physiology and Nutrition" group investigates the fundamentals of human energy metabolism and its significance for exercise performance and for the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. It focuses on the identification of activity and diet-related determinants of energy metabolism, the Metabolic effects of physical activity and nutrition, the underlying mechanisms and their regulation.

In terms of methodology, focus is given to methods for determining energy expenditure and metabolomics. In addition, as part of the joint appointment with Max Rubner-Institut (MRI), controlled human intervention studies are performed at the Human Nutrition Study Centre. An experienced team of nutritionists, physicians and technical assistants offers a wide range of examination and analysis methods for outpatient and inpatient studies.
