The working division "Exercise Physiology and Nutrition" investigates the fundamentals of human energy metabolism and its significance for the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. It focuses on the following
Identification of activity and diet-related determinants of energy metabolism
Metabolic effects of physical activity and nutrition
The underlying mechanisms and their regulation
In terms of methodology, focus is given to methods for determining energy expenditure and metabolomics. In addition, as part of the joint appointment with Max Rubner-Institut (MRI), controlled intervention studies will also be performed at the Study Centre for Human Nutrition. An experienced team of nutritionists, physicians and technical assistants offers a wide range of examination and analysis methods for outpatient and inpatient studies.
